Eyederm Rice Renewal Review

My first impressions of the Eyederm Rice Renewal white and black rice 2-step system, including how the grainy serum feels going on.

The Eyederm Rice Renewal White and Black Rice 2-step skincare system is worth buying if you want a routine you can finish in two steps. The black rice serum exfoliates and rinses off, the white rice toner hydrates. My skin felt super clean after one use. Buy it if complicated routines never stick for you.

How this review was made: written from my own video review of this product. Every opinion here is my own, from using it myself.

Quick Verdict

The black rice serum feels grainy going on and looks like it’s peeling things up off my skin. Rinsed off, the first thing I noticed was my skin felt super, super clean. Two steps, nothing complicated, and I like the way this one feels.

Buy if you:

  • Want a routine you can finish in two steps any night of the week
  • Like an exfoliant you rinse off rather than a chemical peel

The Serum Looked Like It Was Pulling Gunk From My Face

I put on a little, then went back for more, because it felt really good. That’s step one of the Eyederm Rice Renewal system, the black rice exfoliating serum, and you can feel what it is lifting off your skin as it’s going on.

Then came the part I didn’t expect. As I worked it in, it started lifting. I felt like it was just pulling things up off my skin, and when I got the camera in close you could see it. It’s almost like it’s peeling. I rinsed it off and the first thing I noticed was that my skin felt super, super clean.

A Gentle Physical Exfoliant, Not a Chemical Peel

This is the gentle end of exfoliating, not the acid end. Plenty of exfoliating treatments lean on aggressive chemicals, and this one leans on black rice extract and plant-based ingredients instead. Eyederm says the formulas are doctor-formulated, paraben-free and cruelty-free.

It’s not a product with a huge audience yet. It sits around #226,774 in Beauty & Personal Care, though it’s been selling better lately than its 90-day average. Price-wise it’s sitting right where it’s been for the past three months, and close to the lowest it’s been tracked at, so there’s no obvious reason to sit on your hands waiting for a drop.

Black Rice Serum + White Rice Toner: How They Stack

Step one exfoliates, step two hydrates. The black rice serum pairs black rice extract with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, and it’s the one you rinse off. That rinse step matters, because it changes how the whole routine feels. You’re not layering something tacky and hoping it settles. You scrub, you rinse, you reset.

The soft white rice toner is the hydration step, and it also carries niacinamide, rice-derived ingredients and hyaluronic acid. The listing mentions three forms of hyaluronic acid across the system. You can use a cotton ball, but I put a little in my hands and pressed it into my skin instead. It’s super lightweight. It really feels like it’s just kind of soaking up into my skin.

Here’s the one bit of friction. That toner doesn’t dry instantly. I’d want to give it a minute or so before anything else touches my face, and if you’ve got one of those little handheld fans sitting on your vanity, that’s a legitimate use for it. On a morning where I’m already behind, a minute of standing there doing nothing is a real cost. I’ll see over the next few weeks whether a thinner application dries faster.

One use in, the pitch holds. You can check the current price on Amazon here.

Buying the Pair Instead of Building One

You’re paying for the matching set, and the actual value is that both formulas share niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, they were designed to run back to back, so you skip the ingredient-conflict guesswork that comes with buying an exfoliant and toner separately.

Compare that to the way most of us end up with skincare, one bottle at a time, half of them half-used in a drawer. Two bottles that were designed to run back to back is a different kind of purchase. Current pricing is on the product page and it’s hovering near its lowest tracked point, which is a decent moment to try a brand you haven’t used before.

Buy This If Your Routine Keeps Breaking Down at Step Three

Anyone whose skincare routine keeps falling apart because it has seven steps. That’s who this is for. Two bottles, one rinse, done.

If you want to see a number drop on a wrinkle-measuring app, or you’ve got a dermatologist-prescribed acid routine going, this isn’t that. And if grainy textures bother you, step one is going to bother you. But if a two-step routine is what actually gets used versus a seven-step one that doesn’t, this is the better trade, and after one use, I’d make it again. Pick it up here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I patch test this first?

Yes, same as any new exfoliant. There’s a physical element here plus niacinamide, and both can bother reactive skin. Try a small spot along your jaw for a couple of days before you take it across your whole face.

Can I still use my regular moisturizer and sunscreen after?

Yes. The toner is positioned as the step that preps your skin for the rest of your routine, not as the end of it. Just let it dry first so you’re not dragging product around on a damp face.

How often should I use the black rice step?

Start a couple of times a week and see how your skin responds. It’s billed as a gentle daily option, but I’d rather work up to daily than back down from irritated. I’m testing frequency myself and will cover it in the follow up.

Is this okay for sensitive skin?

Possibly, because it avoids the aggressive chemical exfoliants a lot of treatments rely on, and it’s paraben-free. The texture is still a physical exfoliant though, so press lightly rather than scrubbing, and patch test.
